Time-lapse Footage: Hardengreen Beams Hoist
Four bridge beams were successfully installed over the weekend of 14th -17th February as part of the construction of the new Hardengreen rail bridge. The time-lapse footage below shows the erection of the 1,200 tonne crane and the four 107 tonne beams being hoisted into place.
The new rail bridge, which will span 71.5 metres, crosses over Hardengreen roundabout between Eskbank and Newtongrange.
A second phase of works will take place from 28 February – 3 March 2014. This will see major construction work on the main bridge structure completed. It will require the same closures as phase one from 10pm Friday to 6am Monday, to ensure the safety of the workforce and the travelling public.
