The Midlothian Explorer
Part funded by the Borders Railway blueprint, we are delighted to announce that The Midlothian Explorer tourism bus is finally in action as of the 18th of April 2016, and will run hourly, seven days a week, from 10am till 4pm, until the 23rd of October 2016.
Leaving from outside the National Mining Museum Scotland at Newtongrange Railway Station, and will link the Borders Railway with Midlothian communities and visitor attractions. Stops will include Dalkeith High Street (for the Corn Exchange and Dalkeith Country Park), Butterfly World at Dobbies in Lasswade, Straiton Retail Park, Roslin (for the country park and Rosslyn Chapel), Loanhead (for Stewart Brewing) and Lasswade village (for eateries including the Paper Mill and Laird & Dog), before returning to the mining museum.
Tickets for unlimited journeys on the new 527 bus service will cost £5 for adults and £3 for children. For family tickets of 2 adults and 3 children, tickets will cost only £12! Travel for children under 5 and adults over 60 is free, providing a valid concessionary pass is provided.
Special promotions are also included within the ticket price. For example, adults get £1.50 discounted from their entry fee into the mining museum, and children go free!
