The Businesses Thriving Along Scotland's New Railway Line
Tourism is not the only thing to have seen a boost since the opening of the Borders Railway. A number of Borders businesses have seen significant improvement and benefited directly from the opening of the new line.
Tempest Brewing is 'designed and built in the Scottish Borders' and has been able to expand in part because it is now closely located to the new Tweedbank railway station. The brewery which has tripled sales and began exporting following the expansion, chose the new location as it is a few minutes walk from the station.
Sir Walter Scott's home at Abbotsford, a mile from Tweedbank Station enjoyed its best visitor numbers in months following the lines re-opening and saw a 10% increase in independent visitors who were not part of an organised group.
