Summer event success for Borders Railway team

The last few months have seen the Borders Railway project team engage with over 500 members of the community across the Scottish Borders and Midlothian regions through a series of drop-in meetings and community gala days.

The drop-in meetings saw the project team visit five different locations across the Scottish Borders, for the second time this year.

Residents in Tweedbank, Galashiels, Heriot, Fountainhall and Stow had a chance to view the latest detailed design plans and ask members of the project team questions about what construction activity will mean for their areas.

The team has also attended four gala days across Midlothian and the Borders through May and June.

Three events are still to take place in the coming month. These include the Dalkeith Agriculture Show (13th July), the Borders Union Show (26th & 27th July) and Stowed Out Festival (17th August).

Craig Bowman, Communications Manager, Network Rail, said:

“The last few months has seen the project team out and about along the line of route to provide updates about the latest construction activity, and learn more about the hot topics concerning the local community. It has been interesting to meet so many people, and we will be continuing to do this on a regular basis as works progress.”
