Next round of community drop-ins

Network Rail has provided details of four new community events - the first of a series of drop-ins which will be held along the line of the railway over the next few months.

They will allow all residents the opportunity to look at detailed plans for the railway and talk to members of the project team.

The dates, times and venues for the next four events taking place are:

  • Wednesday 17 April (3-7pm) at Edinburgh College, Eskbank
  • Monday 22 April (4-7pm) at The Dean Tavern, Newtongrange
  • Tuesday 23 April (4-7pm) at the Danderhall Community Centre
  • Wednesday 01 May (4-7pm) at the Gorebridge Leisure Centre

The community drop-ins are designed to provide residents with more information about the construction of the Borders Railway.  Dates for events south of Gorebridge will be published shortly.

Network Rail’s first phase of community drop-ins across Midlothian and the Scottish Borders in 2012 received an overwhelming response, with more than 1,200 local residents attending.

Craig Bowman, Communications Manager, Network Rail, said:

“As the project moves into construction phase, we are keen to give people another opportunity to speak to members of the project team and find out more about the more detailed designs for the railway which are now in place. The first four meetings take place in the northern section of the route - they will be followed up with more meetings in the central and southern sections in the coming weeks.”
