Midlothian is the place to be this winter, with a jam-packed programme of festive fun on offer for the county’s first ever Winter Festival!

The programme has been put together by Midlothian Tourism Forum and Midlothian Council, in a bid to help boost local businesses and visitor attractions and to encourage more visitors to the area.

From November through to February, you’ll find a range of entertaining events and activities which are sure to suit every age and interest.

Enjoy Christmas music by candle light, laugh out loud at our local pantomimes, and get in the party mood at one of the many great nights out on offer. There are storytelling and craft making sessions too or, for the more energetic, why not try out some seasonal ski-ing or snowboarding at the Midlothian Snowsports Centre?

Join in with all the family fun at Christmas lights switch-on events, visit Santa in his grotto and enjoy some delicious festive food and drink. Or why not go shopping for the ideal gift, perfect Christmas tree or the extra-tasty treats waiting for you at our local shops and craft fairs?

Midlothian provides the perfect backdrop for a winter festival, with the opportunity to visit some great venues. These range from the historic Rosslyn Chapel, Newbattle Abbey and Vogrie House to picturesque village churches, the National Mining Museum Scotland, and the impressive Dalkeith Country Park.
