Lothianbridge Viaduct repairs require A7 lane closure

A temporary lane closure is required on the A7 later this week to accommodate masonry repair works being carried out on the Lothianbridge Viaduct for the Borders Railway project.

The closure will see the A7 reduced to one lane underneath the Lothianbridge Viaduct from 8am until 6pm on Thursday 17 and Friday 18 April. Temporary traffic lights will be manually operated during peak times to help traffic flow.

Hugh Wark, project director, Network Rail, said: “For its age, the Victorian structure is in excellent condition, but work is required to repair defective masonry. To enable this work to be carried out safely, a temporary lane closure is required on the A7 at this location. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to motorists.”
