Last Call For Applicants For Share of £2,500 Borders Railway Grant

Local community groups are reminded that they have until Monday 30th September to apply for a share of the £2,500 Borders Railway community fund. 

The grant, which is being offered by Borders Railway and the Scottish Community Safety Network (SCSN), aims to support vital community work, educational programmes and small events along the new line of route.  All of the projects are encouraged to raise awareness of the Borders Railway and help promote the importance of rail safety. 

The fund is open to public sector, voluntary and third sector organisations, who can each apply for up to £250.

A number of projects across the Scottish Borders, Midlothian and Edinburgh have already benefited following the first round of community funding which launched in April.

The ten beneficiaries from the first round of funding include: Tweedbank, Langlee and Newtongrange primary schools, 1stGorebridge Guides, Gorebridge Parish Church, Gorebridge Library, Gorebridge Rainbows, Grandparents Parenting Again & Kinship Carers Midlothian, St Davids Bradbury Day Centre in Newtongrange and Birkenside and District Old Folks Club.
