Passenger services for the new Borders Railway route will begin on Sunday 6 September and to celebrate the countdown to the opening, members of the public are being asked to share details of how they will use the new railway and the benefits it will bring to them.

The #MyBordersRailway campaign is encouraging communities and local businesses to share their views via social media using the hashtag #MyBordersRailway.

Messages can either be accompanied by a picture with mention of the hashtag (link to a template below), or a short video. Don’t have social media? Send your pictures, videos and messages via email to and the team will post them for you.

Craig Bowman, senior communications manager, Network Rail, said: “It might be that people will be using the new line to visit friends, family, explore new places, travel to work or to access college or university.  However you plan to use the line, we want to hear about it.

“We look forward to seeing people get involved with the campaign.”

How to get involved

To get involved with the #MyBordersRailway campaign, just follow these simple steps:

1. Print off the template provided below which features the hashtag #MyBordersRailway or make your own sign with mention of the hashtag.

2. Take a picture with the banner and tell us what you are most looking forward to about the new railway and how you will use it. Share via Twitter or Instagram, or if you can, we’d love to see your video telling us the same thing!

3. Upload your content and remember to use the hashtag #MyBordersRailway
