Borders Railway Tickets Now on Sale

ScotRail has confirmed that tickets for travel on the new Borders Railway are now available on its website.

Customers can now purchase tickets for journeys on the new line from the first day of service – Sunday 6 September.

Fares between the seven new stations and Edinburgh are as below:

Anytime Day Return

Off Peak Day Return

Weekly season

Discounted rail fares will be available for children and railcard holders such as Family and Friends and 16-25 Railcards.

Children under five travel for free, and those aged between 5-15 can travel at a concessionary rate of half the adult price.

As with services in the rest of Scotland, ScotRail’s Kids Go Free deal will allow up to two children (aged 5-15) to travel for free with an adult on any off-peak journey.

These new services are non-reservable and, while purchasing a ticket guarantees the journey, it does not guarantee travel on a particular service.

The timetable for the new service was published earlier this year and is available on ScotRail’s website.

Rob Shorthouse, ScotRail’s Communications Director said, “We’re delighted to confirm that tickets for travel between Edinburgh Waverley and Tweedbank, and all stations in between, are now available.

“This is another important step towards the opening of the new Borders Railway.

“Bringing trains back to the area will open up amazing opportunities to local communities, and will allow people from all over Scotland to visit new areas.”
